The global warming forced the whole world to change the way they behave towards living, transporting and construction. So the idea of sustainability became the life most vital factor. Therefore, the UK government planned a zero carbon targets for the industry to meet in few years until 2050.
The construction industry parties, especially construction clients must have a clear guidance about how the zero carbon process works is and who is responsible for what. The Low carbon design requires a great amount of understanding for the energy use of the building and how can be minimized by the form and materials of the building, in addition to renewable energy systems and efficient energy management. In calculating the embodied energy in the construction stage of a building, it appeared that the materials account for 85% of the embodied energy, carbon created by construction 13%, estimated carbon produced by demolition 2% and finally the total embodied energy represents about 20% of its lifetime carbon foot print.
